- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

- 3 large eggs

- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 tbsp lemon zest (or orange zest for a different flavor)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (optional)

- 2-3 tbsp fresh lemon juice (or orange juice)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Prepare the CakePreheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or a 9x13-inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using).
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients.
Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice for a fresh citrus flavor.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes (for a round pan) or 30-35 minutes (for a rectangular pan), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
